Fez (MA) – in a stunning finale, Morocco swept both finals to become the newest World Corporate Champions Cup winner during the 7th edition of the FIFCO World Corporate Champions Cup. Ventec-Maroc, one of the largest HVAC suppliers in the country, had two teams registered, one in the 25+ category and the other in the 35+ category. Both teams faced teams from Oman in the finals, and both squeezed out victories in hotly contested finales. The double victory places Morocco in first place in the World Rankings.
“Oman proved to be a worthy opponent and gave us a wonderful challenge in a final that will live with us for a very long time,” said Baizakh Abdelhak, head coach of the Ventec 25+ team. He added the players will keep training to represent Ventec and its corporate values nationally and internationally.
“I don’t think we could have asked for a better final,” said Otmane Benhlima, president of Smart Sport Consulting (SSC) and local host organiser. “we had a spectacular run up to this final, after the Moroccans beat Mali in penalties, this is exciting football,” he concluded.
Mali’s Group Saer and England’s Elite Group battled out for the bronze medal game in the 25+ group, which saw Mali and England embrace in a friendly dance to celebrate Mali’s bronze-medal finish. In the 35+ category, Tunisia’s Corporate Soccer Association narrowly beat out Morocco’s ECWP in a stunning 2-1 victory.
“This was a super edition with an ambitious attempt to host two concurrent tournaments with two separate age categories. We are delighted with the results and believe this is just the beginning of future tournament structures,” said Albert Zbily, president of the International Federation of Corporate Football (FIFCO). “Its actually quite nice to see the host nation win the tournament – this is a FIFCO first,” he concluded.
The International Federation of Corporate Football (FIFCO) is the world governing body of the sport and headquartered in Montreal, Canada. With over 60 country members, FIFCO hosts the most prestigious 5v5 annual World Corporate Champions Cup.
