Montreal (CA) – The United Nations Football for the Goals (FFTG) recognised The International Federation of Corporate Football (FIFCO) today as a full-fledge member. “This is an incredible day for us here at FIFCO,” said the Albert ZBILY, president of FIFCO. “We believe this is just a beginning of getting our views and ideologies aligned with the world on development, on equality and on the FFTG’s goals – we are honoured by the membership,” he concluded.
FFTG is a United Nations initiative that provides a platform for the global football community to engage with and advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is an opportunity to build on football’s powerful and influential reach and to work together to become agents of change by aligning messaging, strategies and operations with the aspirations of the SDGs.
“Football is a global language, which we all speak. By kicking around a ball, everyone can relate to the action. By associating ourselves to the UN’s SDGs, we now have an opportunity to create a bridge, which we will gladly cross,” said Imranur Rahman, Bangladesh country director and Director General of the Asian Federation of Corporate Football (FAFCO).
FIFCO intends on using its membership to influence its members to embrace the UN’s SDGs in a more collaborative way to get more members and companies involved and creating more sustainable practices and to act as champions in the “Decade of Action.”
FIFCO is the world governing body of Corporate Football with over 60+ country members working towards its founding goals of encouraging exercise at the office through football; inter-company networking; building team spirit; and, promoting amateur play. FIFCO organises the annual FIFCO World Corporate Champions Cup, a corporate footballing festival.
