Montreal (CA) – A Premier league legend, and former Scottish International, Ross McCormack has joined the ranks of FIFCO as the official representative for Scotland.

“This is precisely what I was looking for in terms of getting involved in grassroots, but also in encouraging the adult population into football,” Ross McCormack said at the signing. “By targeting the working people, they will set the tone for the next generation of kids to continue to play this beautiful game, but also to remain active,” he concluded.

Ross started his professional playing career in Scotland with the Rangers and later became the captain of Leeds United in the English Premier League.  He played for the Scottish national team with 13 appearances and scoring 2 goals. At a young 37 years of age, Ross remains an active professional player.

“It’s an incredible day, when we can convince such a positive ambassador of the game to take on the values of our federation,” said Albert Zbily, president of FIFCO, “I strongly believe that Ross will be a great addition to our growing family, and will be a catalyst to bring more people in more corporations to take up the sport and play for the FIFCO values,” he concluded.

The International Federation of Corporate Football (FIFCO) is the world governing body of the sport and was founded based on its 4 core values, which include regular exercise, team building, networking and embracing the amateur game.

FIFCO is preparing its 6th edition of the World Corporate Champions Cup to be held in Crete, Greece this upcoming October. When asked whether Scotland will attend the tournament, Ross responded “our flag will fly over the Greek skies.” This will represent a first time that a Scottish company attends the prestigious world tournament.
